MELTEM Avocats is pleased to announce that Rami Chahine has joined the firm’s Marseille office as a partner.
Admitted to the Bar since 2012, Rami’s practice focuses primarily on arbitration, litigation and white collar crime. Being able to work in French, English and Arabic, Rami has also developed a particular expertise of disputes involving the Middle East and North Africa.
Rami started his career at the Paris office of leading middle-eastern boutique Hafez, before joining, in 2014, the international arbitration team of King and Spalding. In 2021, Rami joined the business and white-collar litigation team of a prominent criminal defense attorney in Marseille.
During these years, Rami has been involved in numerous arbitrations and domestic litigations, relating to a wide variety of sectors, including the energy, construction, real-estate, banking, telecommunications, sport, waste management, agrifood, hospitality and luxury industries.
Rami also has experience in the enforcement of arbitral awards in France, especially against sovereigns.
Rami is recognized since 2021 as a « Future Leader » in international arbitration by Who’s Who Legal. According to this publication, clients and peers describe him as an « excellent lawyer » , « knowledgeable, intelligent and highly competent », and praise his « brilliant mind ».
Rami holds degrees from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas in international economic law, and from the University of Versailles in international arbitration and commercial law. He was also a teaching assistant at the University of Versailles, where he lectured on contract law and private international law.
Rami’s appointment further strengthens the core competencies of the firm, which activity primarily focuses on business litigation, while consolidating its international dimension.
